L’abbazia di Sant’Andrea di Vercelli: analisi del costruito della chiesa

La ricerca intende contribuire alla conoscenza delle tecnologie costruttive, dell’impiego dei materiali e dello svolgimento del cantiere della chiesa di Sant’Andrea di Vercelli, uno dei complessi più rilevanti nel panorama dell’architettura del Duecento. Le indagini termografiche all’infrarosso, lo studio delle murature e l’analisi stratigrafica dell’elevato effettuate in parti della fabbrica hanno restituito una cospicua quantità di nuovi dati, la cui interpretazione ha consentito di individuare le fasi dei cantieri storici medievali e di età moderna, contribuendo alla ricostruzione delle trasformazioni della chiesa.

 

The abbey of Sant’Andrea in Vercelli: architectonical study of the church

The presented research comes from the need to provide a contribution to the knowledge of the technologies of construction, of the use of materials and of the development of the work site of the church of Sant’Andrea in Vercelli, one of the most important complexes in the panorama of 13th century architecture. The infrared thermographic surveys, the study of the masonry and the stratigraphic analysis applied in part of the built, have returned a conspicuous amount of new data, whose interpretation made it possible to identify the phases of the medieval and modern historical work sites and to reconstruct the transformations of the church.
