Cultura del restauro in Piemonte tra Otto e Novecento e riflessi attuali. Dai Castelli di Rivara al Borgo Medievale, andata e ritorno

Il saggio considera quale punto di partenza gli studi di Carla Bartolozzi sulla cultura del restauro tra XIX e XX secolo in Piemonte – dei quali è fulcro l’episodio del Borgo Medievale di Torino con la dominante Rocca – per transitare su un cantiere di Alfredo d’Andrade propedeutico e connesso a quello del Borgo stesso: il restauro dei castelli di Rivara in Canavese. Oggetto, questi ultimi, anche di recenti esperienze di didattica nel campo del restauro e di disseminazione, sono tornati a rappresentare un problema cogente, mentre il destino del Borgo pare attualmente segnato da un vasto “cantiere evento” che potrebbe definire un approdo verso nuove forme di fruizione e valorizzazione.

 

Restoration culture in Piedmont between the 19th and 20th centuries and current reflections. A round trip from the Castles of Rivara to the Borgo Medievale

The essay starts from Carla Bartolozzi’s studies on the culture of restoration between the 19th and 20th centuries in Piedmont, of which the episode of the Borgo Medievale in Turin with the dominant Rocca is the fulcrum. The analysis then moves on to Alfredo d’Andrade’s site, preparatory to and connected with that of the Borgo itself: the restoration of the Rivara castles in the Canavese region. Having been the subject of recent university didactic experiences in restoration and outreach, the latter is now a major problem. At the same time, the Borgo’s destiny seems to be marked by a vast “cantiere evento” (event site) that could define a move towards reuse and optimisation.
