Tutte le strade portano a Torino. Una lettura della rete tranviaria extraurbana a partire dalle sue permanenze materiali

Il contributo propone un’indagine “neo-materialista” sulla storica rete tramviaria extraurbana torinese, scomparsa definitivamente nel secondo Dopoguerra. Singoli manufatti permangono quali testimonianze nel paesaggio contemporaneo e, seppure tra loro scollegati, compongono un frammentario mosaico di elementi attraverso i quali ripercorrere il racconto di un territorio non più visibile. L’indagine sul campo assume un ruolo centrale nella selezione e nella lettura
di questi oggetti ancora esistenti (ex stazioni, ricoveri ecc.), e permette di considerarli quali testimonianze attive nei processi territoriali legati alla viabilità. Le attuali criticità nei servizi pubblici di trasporto extraurbano rappresentano l’opportunità per riflettere sul valore di queste infrastrutture eliminate, sovrascritte, sostituite e abbandonate, pensando a sviluppi e strategie per il futuro che partono proprio da questi manufatti che divengono, a tutti gli effetti, un patrimonio culturale locale.

 

All the roads bring to Turin. A reading of the extra-urban tramway network starting from its material persistence

The text proposes a “neo-materialistic” survey on the historical extra-urban tramway network of Turin, permanently disappeared in the second post-war period. Individual artefacts remain as witnesses in the contemporary landscape and, even if they are disconnected between them, they define a fragmented mosaic of elements by which retracing the tale of a no longer visible territory. The on-site investigation assumes a central role in the selection and in the reading of these still-existing objects (former stations, shelters, etc.) and it allows considering them as active witnesses in the territorial processes linked to the viability. The present critical issues in the public transportation services represent the opportunity to reflect about the value of these infrastructures which were deleted, overwrite, substituted and abandoned, thinking on developments and strategies for the future that have their starting point just from these artefacts which become a full-fledged local cultural heritage.
